Community Guidelines
Standards for respectful, authentic, and safe matrimonial interactions
These guidelines apply to all users. Serious violations — including harassment, fake profiles, financial fraud, and dowry demands — result in permanent bans and may be reported to law enforcement.
1. Our Community Values
Milanse was built for the Gahoi Baniya community — a close-knit community built on trust, tradition, and family values. Every person on this platform is someone's son, daughter, sister, or brother. We expect every member to treat others with the same dignity and respect they would show to their own family.
These guidelines exist to protect every member of our community. Violations may result in immediate account suspension or permanent removal. We take the safety of our users very seriously.
2. Authentic Profiles Only
Every profile on Milanse is Aadhaar-verified, selfie-verified, and manually reviewed by our team. You are expected to maintain this standard of authenticity at all times:
- •Your profile must represent you (or the family member on whose behalf it was created, with their consent and knowledge).
- •All information — age, education, occupation, income, family details, and community details — must be accurate and current.
- •Update your profile promptly if your circumstances change: new job, change in city, completion of education, or change in relationship status.
- •If you are creating a profile on behalf of a family member, clearly indicate this in your profile and obtain their full consent. The family member is the "User" and is bound by these guidelines.
- •Do not use filters, heavy editing, or AI tools to alter your appearance in photos in a way that misrepresents how you look.
- •Your primary photo must be a recent, clear photo of your face. Group photos, childhood photos, cartoon avatars, or photos where you are not clearly visible are not permitted as the primary photo.
3. Photo Guidelines
All photos undergo automated moderation and may also be manually reviewed. Please follow these guidelines:
- •All profile photos must show your face clearly. A minimum of 70% face visibility is required for the primary photo.
- •Do not upload photos of other people, celebrities, or public figures.
- •Do not upload photos that are obscene, sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate.
- •Do not upload photos with text overlays (watermarks, phone numbers, social media handles).
- •Do not upload photos that are protected by copyright (stock photos, professional portraits you do not own rights to).
- •Do not upload photos that reveal the identity of minor children.
- •Group photos may be used in the gallery (after the primary photo) but the primary must be a solo photo.
- •Wedding or engagement photos from previous relationships must not be used.
- •Photos must be recent (ideally within the last 2 years) and accurately reflect your current appearance.
4. Respectful Communication
Milanse is a platform for serious matrimonial intent. All communication must be respectful, courteous, and purposeful:
- •Approach every interaction as you would if the other person's family were present.
- •Express interest genuinely and respectfully. A polite rejection must be accepted gracefully — do not repeatedly send interests to users who have declined.
- •Do not send unsolicited contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles) in the first message.
- •Do not send copy-paste template messages. Personal, thoughtful messages show genuine intent.
- •Do not send messages that are vulgar, sexual, intimidating, or harassing in any way.
- •Do not make derogatory remarks about anyone's appearance, community, caste, region, religion, skin tone, or physical attributes.
- •If a conversation is not progressing, it is acceptable to politely conclude it — there is no obligation to continue communicating with anyone.
- •Messages should relate to genuine matrimonial inquiry. Using the messaging system for business promotion, spam, or any non-matrimonial purpose is prohibited.
5. Privacy & Consent
Every user has the right to control their own information and experience on the Platform. You agree to:
- •Never share another user's photos, profile information, phone number, or any identifying information with anyone outside the Platform without their explicit consent.
- •Never screenshot or screen-record other users' profiles or messages for the purpose of sharing, mocking, or distributing outside the Platform.
- •Respect users' privacy settings — if a user has chosen to hide their photos until mutual interest, do not attempt to circumvent this.
- •Respect the right of any user to block you or decline your interest without providing a reason. Do not attempt to contact them through other means.
- •If a user shares personal contact information with you as the relationship progresses, treat that information with utmost discretion.
6. Gotra, Aakna & Community Traditions
Milanse deeply respects the traditions of the Gahoi Baniya community. Our platform enforces community norms at the system level:
Dowry demands or negotiations through this Platform are a criminal offence under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. Report any such conduct immediately to grievance@milanse.com or to local law enforcement.
- •Gotra Auto-Exclusion: Profiles belonging to the same Gotra are NEVER shown to each other in search results, recommendations, or AI matches. This is a non-negotiable, system-level enforcement — not a filter. It cannot be disabled by any user.
- •Aakna Accuracy: Aakna (a sub-clan identifier unique to Gahoi Baniya) is a required field for Gahoi profiles. Please provide accurate Aakna information. Incorrect Aakna information may affect match quality.
- •Community Respect: Do not make derogatory or disrespectful remarks about any Gotra, Aakna, or sub-community within the Gahoi Baniya community in your profile or in messages.
- •Dowry Prohibition: Any discussion, negotiation, or demand related to dowry through this Platform is strictly prohibited under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. Any such conduct must be immediately reported.
- •Caste Discrimination: While community-specific matching is a feature of this Platform, using the Platform to discriminate against, demean, or harass members of other communities is prohibited.
7. Prohibited Behaviour
The following behaviours will result in immediate account suspension and may result in permanent removal and reporting to law enforcement:
Fraud & Deception
- -Creating a fake or impersonating profile
- -Submitting false or manipulated verification documents
- -Misrepresenting your marital status, age, or identity
- -Creating multiple accounts to evade suspension
- -Claiming to be a widow/widower or divorced when in a legally subsisting marriage
Harassment & Abuse
- -Sending threatening, intimidating, sexual, or abusive messages
- -Contacting a user after they have blocked you (through any means)
- -Publishing or sharing another user's private information (doxxing)
- -Sending repeated unsolicited interests or messages to the same user after being declined
- -Stalking, following, or surveilling another user online or offline based on information obtained through the Platform
Scams & Financial Misconduct
- -Requesting money, gifts, or financial assistance from other users
- -Posing as an Indian diaspora member in financial distress to solicit money
- -Romance scamming — building trust with the intent to defraud
- -Offering money or gifts in exchange for marriage or continued contact
- -Sharing links to fraudulent websites or applications
Illegal Content & Activity
- -Uploading or sharing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — immediately reported to law enforcement and NCMEC
- -Content that promotes or incites violence, terrorism, or communal disharmony
- -Any content that violates the IT Act 2000, IPC, or any other applicable Indian or international law
- -Using the Platform to arrange forced marriage or marriage involving a minor
- -Any discussion, facilitation, or negotiation of dowry
8. Family-Created Profiles
The Gahoi Baniya community values family involvement in the matrimonial process. We support this cultural norm with the following guidelines:
- •Family members (parents, siblings, relatives) may create and manage a profile on behalf of a prospective bride or groom, but ONLY with that person's explicit, ongoing knowledge and consent.
- •The person on whose behalf the profile is created must know about the profile and agree to receive introductions.
- •Profiles created without the candidate's knowledge are a serious violation of their privacy and these guidelines.
- •Family members managing a profile must ensure all communications accurately represent the views and intentions of the candidate, not solely the family's preferences.
- •The candidate has the absolute right to request profile deactivation at any time, and we will honor that request without requiring family approval.
9. How to Report Violations
If you encounter a profile or behaviour that violates these guidelines, please report it immediately. We investigate all reports with seriousness and confidentiality:
All reports are confidential. We will never reveal your identity to the person you report. We investigate every report and take action within 15 days. You will receive an update on the outcome of your report.
- •On a Profile: Click the three-dot menu on any profile card > Report Profile. Select the reason and optionally add details.
- •On a Message: Long-press (mobile) or hover (desktop) on any message > Report Message.
- •By Email: Send a detailed report to grievance@milanse.com with the profile ID (visible in the URL), screenshots, and a description of the violation.
- •Safety Emergencies: If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement (Police Helpline: 100) first, then report to us at safety@milanse.com.
10. Consequences of Violations
We take violations of these guidelines seriously. Actions we may take, depending on severity:
| Severity | Examples | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Minor | Incomplete or slightly misleading profile info, minor messaging etiquette violations | Warning notification; opportunity to correct |
| Moderate | Repeated unwanted messages after being ignored, mildly inappropriate content | Temporary suspension (7–30 days); content removal |
| Serious | Harassment, fake profile, document fraud, sharing another user's private info | Permanent ban; Aadhaar hash and selfie retained to prevent re-registration |
| Criminal | Dowry demands, child exploitation material, fraud, threats, stalking | Permanent ban + immediate report to law enforcement with all evidence |
11. Appeals
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated incorrectly, you may appeal once by emailing appeals@milanse.com within 30 days of the suspension notice. Your appeal must include:
- •Your registered phone number
- •The specific reason you believe the action was incorrect
- •Any supporting evidence (screenshots, context)
Appeals are reviewed by a senior member of our trust and safety team, not the person who made the original decision. We respond to all appeals within 15 business days. Our decision on appeal is final.
12. Updates to These Guidelines
These guidelines may be updated as the Platform evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification and email with at least 30 days' notice. Your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
